Stichting VU

The Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) of the Vrije Universiteit (VU) is the oldest environmental research institute in the Netherlands. IVM has built up considerable experience in dealing with the complexities of environmental problems, participating in numerous (inter)national research projects and collaborating with several institutes and universities in Europe and beyond. Various researchers of IVM have contributed to the IPCC process as author for Working Groups II and III. IVM worked together with the European Commission to develop their Green Paper on Adaptation, with UN-ISDR on the Sendai Framework and works in several DG-Environment and DG-CLIMA projects on climate change and natural disaster risk management. IVM is one of the leading organizations in research on natural disaster risk assessment, climate services, and decision making on adaptation. 

IVM has a long standing expertise in assessing climate change risks for the financial sector, such insurance companies, which will be used in the private sector case of REACHOUT, focused on climate service development for the financial sector.
